Madeleine's Story

When Crème De La Crème Mobile Ice-Trike Boutique rolled into Grand Rapids, we knew we needed a name as delightful and memorable as our handcrafted ice cream treats. To make this decision as special as possible, we turned to the people who matter most – our wonderful community. Through a spirited social media campaign, we invited our followers to share their suggestions for the perfect name.

The response was overwhelming, with creative and heartfelt ideas pouring in from all corners. But one name stood out above the rest, suggested by none other than my very own twin brother, Jim. His suggestion, "Madeleine de Proust," struck a chord with us instantly.

For those who may not be familiar, "Madeleine de Proust" is a French expression that evokes the deep sense of nostalgia tied to cherished childhood memories. The phrase comes from Marcel Proust’s famous work, "In Search of Lost Time," where a bite of a madeleine cake transports the narrator back to the comforts and joys of his youth.

Just like that madeleine cake, our ice cream treats aim to bring back those warm, happy memories. Each cold treat is crafted with love, reminiscent of the simple pleasures of childhood – the laughter, the sweetness and the pure joy of sharing a special moment with the ones you love the most.
